Planets ~The Power In The Astrology Chart! ~

I call them the “Big 10”. Yes, there are only 8 “planets” (Pluto was classified as a “planet” again in January 2018″ after being labeled  “dwarf” in 2006), but the 2 luminaries – Sun and Moon – are always included when discussing Astrology.

Planets are the spark plugs in an Astrology chart. They each have a job to do as they energize the many facets of an individual’s personality and life. In addition, a planet is said to have “rulership” of a particular sign (it will be at its happiest and most potent energy when transiting there – fully expressed).

The Planets are listed below along with their Zodiac sign rulerships and duties:

Sun * Leo: Life force, self expression

Moon * Cancer: Emotions, sub conscious, nurturing

Mercury * Gemini and Virgo: Communication (when Mercury goes retrograde, we need to watch what we say and write), transportation, education

Venus * Taurus and Libra: Love, beauty and how we view/value ourselves and money

Mars * Aries: Action, conflict, sexuality

Jupiter * Sagittarius: Expansion, recreation, philosophy

Saturn * Capricorn:  Discipline, boundaries, authority

Uranus * Aquarius: Change, the unconventional, extremes

Neptune * Pisces: Spirituality, dreams, illusion

Pluto * Scorpio: Unconscious, breaking down and rebuilding, secrets

The location of a planet in a birth chart – its House placement, its Astrology Sign – can influence how we act / respond in particular areas of our lives as they currently transit and move around our chart today.

12 Astrology Signs – Which One Is Mine????

Some people may get confused about their Astrology birth sign because they were born on the edges of a Sun sign’s duration – 28, 30, or 31 days, at the very beginning or at the very end of the Solar stay.

Aries: March 21-April 19

Taurus: April 20-May 21

Gemini: May 22-June 20

Cancer: June 21-July 22

Leo: July 23- Aug 22

Virgo: Aug 23-Sept 22

Libra: Sept 23-Oct 22

Scorpio: Oct 23-Nov 21

Sagittarius: Nov 22-Dec 21

Capricorn: Dec 22-Jan 19

Aquarius: Jan 20-Feb 18

Pisces: Feb 19-March 20

Just to add to the fun, the start / end dates of a Sun Sign’s duration may “calendar travel” from year to year. The Astrological sign changeover can be anywhere from the 18th to the 23rd of the month. The Earth’s rotation actually determines the start dates of a sign – not the Sun. The dates can vary depending on when a leap year occurs.

Regardless of date of birth, you have a Sun Sign (only 1!). If you were born on a Zodiac sign transition day, you just need to have complete birth info – specific time/place/date- to really find out which one is yours.

The Sun Sign is the light reflecting the self.  How we behave when our backs are to the wall, pressed, fight or flight situations, etc. As complex people, we radiate several lights – perhaps just not all at the same time.

The Sun flows from one Zodiac sign to another. Since the Earth wobbles, it takes slightly more than 365 days — actually 365 + 1/4 days. Because of this, our calendars must be adjusted to compensate for this difference.

Virgo Sun – Down to Earth Living!

The 2018 Virgo Sun spreads its influence over us on Wednesday & Thursday,  August 22 (PDT) & August 23 (EDT), regardless of whether it’s your Astrological sign or not. Think: grounded, practical, efficient and responsible.  Getting it done.

The 6th sign of the Zodiac is about work, service and health. But don’t think being conscientious has to mean “dull”. With quick witted Mercury as its planet ruler, Virgo’s cleverness can liven up situations when you least expect it.

Earth sign Virgo is about paying attention to the details. However, being enraptured with “sweating the small stuff” can also lead to being overly critical and picky. Friends, family & co-workers may resent relentless corrections no matter how “helpful” or how good the intention. Don’t get on their nerves 😉

Instead, do evolved Virgo things – be useful, bring calm & order, be a contribution, take care. Create a plan for better diet & fitness.

Virgo Moon This Weekend – Details. Details!

Astro moon-waning-crescent-lSaturday and Sunday, 15 & 16th of November, 2014, the Moon will be in Virgo the 6th sign of the Zodiac. There is a mood shift from the playful, sunny, “I” oriented Leo Moon of the last few days into the dutiful, service and work oriented Earth sign Virgo. Well, it won’t be sequins and glitter, but, we will be useful and organized. Make the most of it.

You may notice an inclination to analyze, to focus on the small stuff, no matter how tiny. (This might be an irritant to others, but things will get done – correctly!) So, write those “to do” lists, re caulk the bath tub, work hard, be industrious. Your mind will be sharp and no detail will be missed. Just try not to be too fussy or critical – after all it is the weekend 🙂

Enjoy!

New Moon in Relationship Focused Libra!

Astro New Moon CrescentThe Moon’s Zodiac sign position can set mood and energy. The Lunar orb is in its “New” phase (the Sun and the Moon are in the same sign) which means that Airy Libra’s traits intensify. So consider the social, charming, creative Libra New Moon on Tuesday / Wednesday a great time for making new friends, relationships, partners, contracts, etc. (Blind date? Speed networking/business card exchange party?) Regardless, seek balance and harmony.

The universe will support New Moon innovation for the next 10 days or so until the Moon is “Full” – which begins a period of finishing up, completing projects, etc.

“Look At Me” Leo Moon This Weekend!

Astro moon-waning-crescent-lSaturday and Sunday, 10/26 & 10/27, we are treated to a Fiery Leo Moon and all that it involves. The weekend can be full of fun, largesse, a little bit of showing off and lots of regal generosity of spirit. Enjoy any festivities you find yourself in the middle of whether planned or unplanned. The 5th sign of the Zodiac is ruled by the Sun so a natural drift toward theatrics and melodrama could push thru. Take it in stride.

As you’re surrounded by lights and glittering confetti, just remember that it’s not all about you. Share the spotlight.

Have a sparkling weekend!

Where Will The Moon Be This Weekend?

Astro New Moon CrescentThe Moon’s Zodiac sign position can set the mood or energy for the day and when the Lunar orb is in its “New” phase, the sign’s traits can intensify. It happens each month when the Sun and the Moon are in the same sign. So consider the Airy Libra Moon on Friday October 4, 2013 a great time for beginnings, a great time to start something new, a great time to be original – relationships, artistic endeavors. The universe will support innovation for the next 10 days or so until the Moon is “Full” – which begins a period of finishing up, completing projects, etc.

Early Sunday morning, the Moon will slide into serious, secretive, stubborn, Scorpio – intense. As always, this Water sign will have us “feel” things. Emotions can be dramatic and overwhelming. Be aware of the tendency to be easily wounded – keep breathing. While the Moon is in the 8th sign, we may have little patience for the superficial – “real” conversations, one-on-one connections are demanded, drilling down to reveal the hidden is not unusual. (Going deep has its advantages.)

We can be flexible, go with the flow – we can have a great weekend!

A Weekend of Charm – Libra Moon!

Astro New Moon CrescentFriday, Saturday & Sunday, the Moon graces relationship focused Air sign Libra. So don’t be surprised if the soundtrack that runs thru your head occasionally includes, “can’t we all just get along?”. Balance, seeing “both sides” of a situation, brokering deals (personal or business) are a part of the Libra charm machine. It helps improve and clarify partnerships wherever needed.

The 7th sign of the Zodiac, is ruled by the romantic, beautifying planet Venus. Besides cooperation, we are urged to express any artistic talent, share ourselves with people and just generally expect and accept good times.

This can be another lovely weekend. Enjoy!

Aries Moon – Action, Risk, Energy!

Astro moon-waning-crescent-lBeginning on Friday 7/26/13 thru Sunday, we are influenced by the impatient, aggressive sign of Aries. (Think “Action figure”)  This Fire sign is the 1st sign of the Zodiac and is ruled by the planet Mars – the patron saint of warriors. Arian Moons are perhaps best for movement rather than mental activity, but still a good time to initiate, take charge- just think it thru and go for it.

Power down occasionally so that loved ones don’t feel that they are in the presence of a bulldozer. Use the sign’s power and physicality to burn off any anger or frustration that might be lurking underneath. But by all means, take advantage of the energy – get crackin’, do something different, conquer new territories, etc., etc.

Have a great weekend!

Here Comes The Sun: Leo!

astrology_chartwheel 2The Sun rules the 5th sign of the Zodiac and you can notices its influence right away as it begins its transit on July 22, 2013. We will all feel a little more upbeat, a little more magnanimous – a lot of that regal “all about me” stuff. Leo’s are generous, dramatic, attention seekers (great performers), creative and full of lion’s pride. When the Sun struts into this Fire sign, expect to have some fun for the duration of it’s stay.

Glow and be warmed as the Solar presence heats our talent, self confidence and love segments of life. Graciously ooze the Leo charm and you will be looked at, admired, loved. Time to step up and step out – just watch out for “royal” imperiousness. Remember that it is not all about you. Share the light!

Sun into Leo: July 22, 2013, 11:56AM EDT / 8:56 AM PDT

*Gemstone: Tiger’s Eye  * Power Colors: Gold, Orange  *Body Part – Heart (…of a Lion)

**BTW: The date when the Sun transits into a sign fluctuates year to year – 19, 20, 21, 22. If born on one of these days, you’re considered to have been born on the “cusp”. Regardless, there is only one Sun sign in an Astrology chart. (However, the person may exhibit a combination of traits from the 2 signs that it falls between)
