Astrology: Leo and Virgo Mixed Moon Moods This Weekend 10/21/11

Upbeat and dramatic, Friday’s Leo Moon, October 21, 2011, can be a fun kickoff to the weekend. This Fire sign always offers fun, creative possibilities. Be kind and generous in spirit, have a good time.

Saturday and Sunday changes our energy a little when the Moon moves into Earthy Virgo. Its traits of practicality and responsibility will give focus to doing what is needed. Take care of loose ends, pay attention to the details, handle your business – accomplishment is exciting and makes you feel proud 😀

Make it a weekend to remember!

Astrology: Weekend Moon in “Look At Me !” Leo 9/23

The Moon is in dramatic (great actors), attention seeking, generous, creative and full of a lion’s pride Leo on Friday and Saturday. This fun loving Fire sign may make our weekend full of melodrama, but we will be active, upbeat, and magnanimous, which can make for a really good time.

Next up is a conscientious, ready to tackle the details Virgo Moon. It’s all good – we can deal with the change to this practical, service oriented Earth sign and the mood switch may give us an inclination to clean up all the sequins and glitter left over from Leo’s antics.

Have a super weekend!

Astrology: It Isn’t Over – Mercury Is Still Retrograde!

Let’s not get loose and lax. Mercury, planet of communication, transportation, small gadgets, is still going backward in the sky. It went Retrograde on Tuesday 8/2 and will continue its reverse motion until 8/26.  So continue to pay attention to details, stay alert and nail down exactly when that bus /train /plane is scheduled to leave. Make sure you back up your files, your wireless devices are charged and everything is working properly. Also, if your gas gauge shows “E”, believe it, accept that the car is on Empty or close to it. This is not the time to test your luck.

Retrograde started in Earth sign Virgo, moved backward into the 5th Zodiac sign of Leo on 8/8 and will continue until it finally stops on 8/26 (still in Fire sign Leo). Mercury will then go Direct and you may notice a gradual lifting of the fog, gadgets working again, etc.  However, it will not reach the sign it rules, Virgo, again until 9/9. That is when communications, written or spoken and plans you may have for health / diet upgrades will really take flight. When Mercury is in one of the signs it rules, Gemini is the other, their traits are energized. Analytical, practical Virgo should show up and be about getting things done.

Remember my usual suggestions for Mercury Retrograde – see it as an opportunity to review, reconsider, re-think, re write. However, note that as we do this, we are not going backwards into the past, we are pro actively making any needed changes, re evaluations for the future.

Try to recall how you waded through whatever snafus or confusion resulted the last time Mercury was Retrograde in March 2011. You can do it again!

Astrology: Mercury Retrograde, Its Baaack! August 2nd

Tuesday 8/2/11 begins the second Mercury Retrograde for the year. The communication planet last went backward in March and you may recall how you waded through whatever snafus or confusion resulted. You can do it again!  Be alert, nail down exactly when that bus/ train/ plane is scheduled to leave. Make sure your PC/iPhone/iPad/Mobile, etc. is in top form and kept charged. Also, if your gas gauge shows “E”, believe it. Mercury Retrograde, which begins 11:50Pm Eastern / 8:50PM Pacific, is not the time to test your luck. Instead of Margo Channing’s classic line, “Fasten your seatbelt. Its’ going to be a bumpy night”, it’s actually going to be a “bumpy” 26 days.  (btw: the quote is from the movie All About Eve.  It was on TV a few weeks ago – love it.)

The Retrograde starts in Earth sign Virgo, transits backward into the 5th Zodiac sign Leo on 8/8 and continues its reverse until it finally stops on 8/26 (still in Fire sign Leo). Mercury then goes Direct and you may notice the fog lifting, gadgets working again, etc.  However, it will not reach the sign it rules, Virgo, again until 9/9. That is when communications, written or spoken and plans you may have for health / diet upgrades will really take flight. When Mercury is in one of the signs it rules, Gemini is the other, their traits are energized. Analytical, practical Virgo should show up and be about taking care of the details, getting things done.

In the mean time, remember my usual suggestions for Mercury Retrograde – see it as an opportunity to review, reconsider, re-think. However, note that as we do this, we are not going backwards into the past, we are pro actively making any needed changes, re evaluations for the future.  A good thing.

Astrology: Charming Full Moon in Libra This Weekend

Weekend energy begins with the Friday April 15th Moon in practical, earthy Virgo and then lightens up later as social Libra castes its influence. There will even be a Full Moon in this relationship focused Air sign on Sunday April 17th, 10:44PM Eastern/ 7:44PM Pacific.

As I’ve mentioned in this space before, a ”Full” Moon phase packs power and can give our thoughts clarity. It starts the “waning” or decreasing, of the Lunar orb, a good time to gather results or confront the useless – clean up old projects, get rid of outmoded thought patterns and  attitudes in order to clear the way for the “new”.

Libra Moons can make us cooperative, social with an urge to beautify both ourselves and our surroundings. Good. It will help us tune out/tone down any negative, angry voices out there (or, in our heads).  Charm and beauty – always good antidotes.

Have a lovely, gracious weekend!

Astrology: Leo Full Moon,Then Weekend Moon in Virgo & Libra

Friday February 18, 2011 provides early morning mood changes. (Just in case I haven’t been clear in my weekend update Astrology posts, my premise is that as the Moon changes signs, so do our moods, our energy and often how we act/react in the day to day.) The Moon will be in “Full” power at 3:36AM Eastern/12:26AM Pacific in generous, ”let’s have fun” Fire sign Leo. A Full Moon phase is good for wrapping things up, finishing what began at the time of the New Moon. The effects will last for a few days even as the Lunar orb changes to the next sign.

About an hour later the same day, the Moon moves into service oriented, practical Virgo – from upbeat Leo to the conscientious, discriminating Earth sign – we can handle it. Take advantage of the Full phase’s continued influence by using this Mercury ruled sign’s cleverness and penchant for detail. You can get stuff done.

And finally, early on Sunday 4:39AM Eastern/1:39AM Pacific, way before Brunch time, a Libra Moon makes us social, agreeable and decorous. Have people over or meet someplace nice, make both yourself and your home attractive. There is a lot to be said for beautiful things to lift spirits and ease the settling of any disputes.

Be flexible, go with the flow, have a varied Weekend!

(BTW- the Sun doesn’t move into Pisces, the 12th sign of the Zodiac, until Friday evening 2/18 – which is why the Moon is Full in Leo while the Sun is exactly opposite in Aquarius in the morning. When the luminaries are opposite each other – the Moon is “Full”)

Astrology: Thanksgiving and Weekend Moon – Food, Glorious Food!

This is a short work week for most, so I’m starting the weekend a little early.  On Thursday November 25th, the Happy Thanksgiving Day Moon is in its own food, family, nurture Water sign of Cancer – perfect.  Be full, comfy and share.  Don’t forget to be “thankful”.

Later that evening, the Moon shifts to generous, fun loving, attention getting Leo.  Friday and Saturday will give you time to smile, savor leftovers, show off a little, have fun.

Early morning on Sunday, the Virgo Moon brings us back to basics with health and work focus – conscious eating habits, duty, getting things done. We are ready for the work week.

Have a wonderful Holiday!

Astrology: Reminder – Mercury Still Retrograde Until 9/12/10

Reminder: Mercury went retrograde on 8/20/10 in the Earth sign of Virgo. Even though this might not be the best time to initiate action, it could be a great moment to review and revive discarded ideas. Sometimes a little distance can bring new insight into something that you thought was a no deal. It might be a keeper after all.

So, as per my earlier post, my “RE” mantra for Mercury Retrograde time is always:  review, rethink, rework, revisit, rewind

We have until 9/12/10 (in the U.S.) for this planet of communication/techie stuff/transportation to stop and turn “Direct”. It will go forward, still in Virgo, and you might notice a freeing up of those little snafus that have been plaguing your plans for the last few weeks.

Astrology: Moving Planets – Mercury Retrograde 8/20/10

Okay. All those “re” words work best at times like these – review, rethink, rework, revisit, reduce (not really).  Mercury, the communications planet, appearing to go  backwards in the sky, from 8/20 to 9/12, is not necessarily an event of horrific proportions.  It can be dealt with.

The possibility of communication snafus are intensified this time because Mercury is in one of the signs it rules, Virgo (the other is Gemini). When going direct, all the Virgo/Mercury traits are pumped – analyze, write, speak, teach, work, service. With the sluggishness of a Retrograde, energy may be blunted and slips of the tongue or pen, Freudian or otherwise, can occur. Project initiation/creation would be best delayed if possible – if not, be meticulous, be careful. (Jump all over the details.)

(Next Mercury Retrograde will be 12/10/10 in Capricorn.)

Astrology: Moving Planets – Saturn into Libra Again

Saturn will finally reach Libra again on 7/21/10. This planet went retrograde into Virgo in January and reversed course in May. It has inched its way forward back into the 7th sign of the Zodiac.

Discovered in 1610 by Galileo, I think of Saturn sometimes as the Castor Oil of the planet world.  Ancient Astrologers considered it a malefic, but recently, a more  positive spin, such as a bringer of life lessons, responsibility, etc. , has been attributed to it–like medicine that tastes awful, but does you good, eventually. (Ugh)

It is now the Libran’s turn, Birth Signs and Ascendants, to experience the planet for grownups.  Saturn (transit lasts until 2011) can change this gracious, relationship sign from an indecisive, social coquette to a serious seeker of commitment.  Everything must still be lovely and beautiful, partnerships will be highlighted, but with an underlying base of steel mesh, focus, ambition.

This is about boundaries, “reality”, discipline, karma. Yes, there is a heaviness as it transits a sign, but you can get a lot done with Saturn’s “duty bound” attitude, it just isn’t always fun.

BTW: If you have experienced a recent 30/60 year Saturn Return in Libra (the planet returns to the same place in your chart as at the time of birth every 30 years) you may notice the effects too.
