Together Again! Winter Solstice & Capricorn Sun 12/21/18

On Friday December 21, 2018, Winter arrives in the Northern Hemisphere, (some places more dramatically than others) but it’s the Winter Solstice nevertheless and always in tandem is the Capricorn Sun. This Earth sign is ambitious, efficient, grounded and practical. The 10th sign of the Zodiac can keep us busy networking, tuning up career moves, and organizing whatever needs to be shaped up. Make something happen. Just don’t get so bogged down in responsibilities and being “in charge” that you become rigid and cautious. Fun can still be had!

There are 2 major planet transits for Capricorn right now:

~Saturn, planet of boundaries & discipline – rules Capricorn so its influences will be tweaked. The visit started 12/19/17, will end 12/20/2020. Mature decisions, duty, responsibility are all highlighted for hopefully good results down the line.

~Pluto, planet of power & transformation – has been in Capricorn since 2008.(Will move on in 2023) – fosters deep feelings, possible changes in career direction, upheaval, regeneration.

Regardless of your birth date, we can still feel Capricorn’s influence as we reach for an upgrade in status, get a thrill directing traffic and telling people what to do and where to go. Being the “top dog” is not a burden. Being in charge is welcome – fun for the boss, but maybe not so much for the employee? Remember to be careful with how you treat others, you can be authoritative with honey, rather than vinegar.

Capricorn Sun = December 21, 2018 * 5:23 PM EST / 2:23 PM PST

*Gemstone: Obsidian, Onyx *Power color: Black, Gray * Body Part: Bones

FYI:  “The Winter Solstice occurs exactly when the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23° 26′. Though the winter solstice lasts only a moment in time, the term is also a turning point to midwinter or the first day of winter…The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the reversal of the gradual lengthening of nights and shortening of days.” (per Wikipedia)

Full Moon in Ambitious, Serious Capricorn

On Wednesday in the West and then in the early morning of Thursday in the East, the Lunar orb is lit up and “Full” in Capricorn. (The Sun is in the opposite sign of Cancer.) The Zodiac sign that houses a Full Moon will have its traits and characteristics heightened for a few days.

The practical, earthy, Saturn ruled, 10th sign of the Zodiac is about ambition, authority, duty. Capricorn leans towards long term goals, managing a career, creating success (whatever that means to you) and reaching for the top. Are your personal actions and business strategies producing results?

Take the time to figure out a path to handle what is necessary. We can use Capricorn’s Full Moon energy to detail and finalize projects. Work to complete plans that move you closer to what you want.

*Capricorn Full Moon:  6/27. 9:53 PM (PDT) & 6/28. 12:53AM (EDT)

Capable, Careful, Capricorn Sun 12/21/17

The serious, business-like Capricorn Sun arrives on Thursday, December 21, 2017 along with the celebrated Winter Solstice. As the year’s end approaches with all the festivities, it’s the perfect time to look at what we’ve accomplished in the last 12 months and make plans for 2018. I love that “what’s next?” question – a New Year, a blank calendar, great things are possible!

Tap into some of that leftover holiday energy because with Capricorn‘s affinity for work and organization, we can keep busy, accomplished and sensible. Strategize, tune up career moves, set up a networking campaign, determine whatever needs to be shaped up and do it. Make something happen. But don’t get so bogged down that you become rigid and over cautious. Relax, remember that you have a sense of humor – use it.

There are 2 major planet transits for the 10th sign of the Zodiac:

Pluto – deep feelings, possible changes in career direction, upheavel, rebirth (since 2008 until 2023)

Saturn – rules Capricorn so its influences will be tweaked. The visit lasts from 12/19/17 to 12/20/2020. Mature decisions, duty, responsibility are all highlighted for hopefully good results down the line.

*Capricorn Sun = December 21, 2017 * 11:29 AM EST / 8:29 AM PST

*Gemstone: Obsidian, Onyx *Power color: Black, Gray * Body Part: Bones

FYI:  “The Winter Solstice occurs exactly when the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23° 26′ (Shortest day / Longest night)”

Are your personal actions and business strategies producing results?

Capable, Careful, Careerist Capricorn Sun 12/21/15

A serious Capricorn Sun arrives on Monday December 21, 2015 along with the celebrated Winter Solstice. As the year’s end approaches, mixed in with all the festivities, it’s the perfect time to look at what we’ve accomplished in the last 12 months and make plans for 2016. I love that whole “what’s next?” questioning process. A New Year, a blank calendar, great things are possible!

astrology_chartwheel 2Capricorn, an Earth sign ruled by the planet Saturn, ambitious, efficient, grounded, practical and patient. Yes, very different from all the upbeat holiday revelry most of us have been experiencing under the Sagittarius Sun, however, there’s no need to have a letdown. Capricorn can keep us busy, accomplished and sensible. Re-goal yourself (I made this word up), tune up career moves, network in house, organize whatever needs to be shaped up. Make something happen. Just don’t get so bogged down in responsibilities that you become rigid and cautious.  Key word – “delegate”!

There are 2 planets, plus the Sun, in Capricorn right now meaning that wherever this sign appears in the birth chart, its traits are intensified in that section of life. (And of course, a Capricorn Sun or Rising sign is especially energized.)

Planets in Capricorn:

*Pluto – Deep feelings, possible changes in career direction, upheavel, rebirth (since 2008 until 2023)

*Mercury – Moved into Capricorn on 12/10/15 – Communication can become serious and narrow-thinking. Maintain sense of humor. Reign in sharp, hurtful speech. (Until 2/14/16 * the planet will be Retrograde from 1/6/16 – 1/26/16)

However, regardless of your birth date, we may feel the Capricorn influence as we reach for an upgrade in status, get a thrill directing traffic and telling people what to do and where to go. Being the “top dog” is not a burden. Being in charge is welcome – fun for the boss, but maybe not so much for the employee? Remember to be careful with how you treat others, you can be authoritative with honey, rather than vinegar.

*Capricorn Sun = December 21, 2015…11:49 PM EST / 8:49 PM PST

Gemstone: Obsidian, Onyx *Power color: Black, grays * Body Part: Bones

Spontaneous, Sagacious, Sag Sun 11/22/15

astrology_chartwheel 2The Sun prances into Sagittarius on Sunday November 22, 2015 – let the fun times begin! The Sun is in this Fire sign and we can all enjoy it’s qualities of energy, optimism and adventure. Ruled by lucky planet Jupiter, the king of positive thinking, we just won’t have enough space for all the goodies anticipated. Everything is “BIG”- ideas, actions, themes. There is this underlying sense of “can’t miss”, “it’s all great!” Just remember to pause occasionally to look over the landscape – not only to enjoy the view, but also to realize that some of those “sure things” are not and might cost you more that you can afford – aim for controlled excess.

To add to all this, Saturn, planet of discipline and limits, which is quite different to Jupiter‘s goal (expansion on steroids), has been transiting the 9th sign of the Zodiac since last December. Depending on where it appears in your chart, the desire for adventure may be muted, our wings feel clipped, the pace of life slows down. We can still be upbeat, but maybe not so high? A bigger boat won’t be needed. Saturn remains in Sagittarius until December 2017.

Regardless, put yourself among people, travel, teach or take a class, revel in the abundance of the season. Be happy, be an “of course” for excellent results, reach for the good things, discover something new, pay attention to your intuition (Sagittarians love a good laugh but they’re also deep and love to ponder the universe.) but, just be aware of the edges – over confidence can send you too far. Have a good time, but, don’t overdo.

*Sagittarius – November 22, 2015 10:26 AM EST / 7:36 AM PST

*Gem stone: Sodalite * Power color: Lilac, Mauve * Body Part: liver, Hips

BTW: The symbol for Sagittarius is the half man/ half horse Centaur (usually with a wine pouch). Perfect, just in time for holiday gatherings.

Spread cheer!

Full Moon in Ambitious Capricorn!

Astro Moon FullThe Moon is in Capricorn today – it’s all about status, authority and work. To make these traits even more intense, the Lunar orb will be “Full” in this Saturn ruled sign on Saturday July 12, 2014. (The Sun is in Cancer and the Moon is lit up with reflected light in its opposite sign.) Our thoughts lean towards managing career, long term goals, creating success (whatever that means to you) and reaching for the top. Are your business strategies, actions producing results? Full Moon in Capricorn is a good time to think about it and then take any needed action when the Moon is in its “New” phase, 7/26/14.

Later this weekend, the Moon will be in Uranus ruled, freedom loving Aquarius. The 11th sign of the Zodiac urges us to be unconventional, unpredictable and unwilling to conform. If you’re going to rebel, make sure that there is substance.

Have a marvelous weekend!
