New Moon Plus 5 Planets in Pisces – Wow!

Astro New Moon CrescentMonday’s New Moon, March 11, 2013, is in Pisces. It won’t be alone. Neptune, Mercury, Mars, Venus and the Sun are also transiting the 12th sign of the Zodiac thereby doing major amping of Piscean themes in addition to highlighting a Moon phase that spurs on beginnings and the “new”. This sensitive, dreamy, imaginative Water sign makes it a perfect time to explore the spiritual while grounding ourselves in real life. Take notes and write down suddenly vivid, technicolor  dreams, but keep a grip, don’t float away in a haze.

FYI – Mercury Retrograde ends on Sunday March 17th. The Communication planet will stop and start moving forward again. After a day or so, there will be an energy shift, things seemingly stuck in molasses will loosen and start moving. New Moon energy lasts for approximately 2 weeks, so we have time to initiate those brilliant projects we’ve been stewing over during the Retrograde period. Creativity should be on the boil.

1st Mercury Retrograde of 2013 This Weekend!

Another “first” for 2013 – the first Mercury Retrograde period (unexpected happenings, a slowdown of actions and decisions), of the year begins Saturday February 23 until March 17, 2013. It occurs 3 times annually and this time, our Communication planet goes backward in the sensitive, imaginative, impressionable Water sign of Pisces. Mercury is not just associated with reading and writing, but is also connected to travel and transportation, education, manual dexterity, small electrical gadgets, etc. We just need to pay extra attention to the details to get thru without too many mishaps.  Astro Planet Glyphs 2

Mercury Retrograde is always a good time to make plans, complete projects and of course to exercise all those “re” actions: re evaluate, rewrite, re assess, re acquaint, re address. The retrograde period can give us time to pause and reflect, rather than jump into new schemes. Contract signings, innovations, new investments should be delayed if possible and certainly not attempted until after close scrutiny. Pisces and its planet ruler Neptune can push us far away from the real. Situations are not always clear.

However, as I always say, “life does NOT stop”. If it can’t wait and a project needs to be handled, get a grip, focus and do what needs to be done. Don’t accept any hazy solutions and then hope for the best. Avoid having your work redone due to initial carelessness or sloppy thinking.

And, let’s not forget the weekend Moon transit: The Lunar orb will be in fun, elegant, dramatic Fire sign Leo this weekend. Dress up, socialize. Have a great time!

Last Mercury Retrograde of 2012 – On Election Day!

It happened in 2000 (remember those “hanging chads”?) and it happens again on Tuesday, November 6. Mercury goes “backward” on the day we vote. This is the planet of communication, travel, manual skills, fact gathering and analysis – things that have to do with being with people, places and things. When Retrograde, the possibilities for confusion, frustration, impatience are heightened. However, we can prepare ourselves so that fallout is reduced. We just need to be careful and pay attention. It can be done!

If you’ve waited until Election Day to vote in person, instead of using an “early voting” option, confirm your polling station, be ready to wait in line if need be – baby sitter, work skeds, water/bathroom breaks, don’t rush or get yourself flustered. Have the appropriate ID and any documentation required in your county, city, state to cast a ballot. Make the selections that you want – your vote counts (regardless of which direction Mercury is moving).

The Retrograde begins in Fire sign, Sagittarius. Sag is fun loving and forever optimistic. It’s about big dreams, big ideas and a general “Yes” attitude. During the next 3 weeks, the effervescence may dim a little, luck may seem harder to come by. Look before jumping into situations, do verbal filtering so that feelings aren’t stepped on. As always, where Mercury appears in the individual chart determines what part of life is most affected by the planet’s Retrograde motion, but regardless, being careful and mindful of pitfalls is a good thing for all of us.

Retrograde “re” suggestions– review, rewrite, rethink, etc – are not really for going backwards into the past but giving us time to make changes and re evaluations for the future.  If it’s important, re do it if needed.

*Final Mercury Retrograde for 2012:

November 6 – (6:04PM EST / 3:04 PM PST) until November 26- (5:48 PM EST / 2:48PM PST). Mercury backs into Scorpio on 11/14. It stops, goes Direct on 11/27 reaching Sagittarius again on 12/11/12

Hold On, Mercury Retrograde Almost Over!

Ok, we’re just about there. Mercury halts its backward movement (Retrograde), stops (Stations) and goes forward (Direct) again in Leo  on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Hope any snafus, malfunctions, lapses, disconnects were none too many and eventually salvageable.

In the next few days, plans should become unstuck, deals remade and printers should work again. Congratulations – we made it thru!

*Communication planet Mercury goes Direct at 10:40PM Eastern August 7/ 1:40AM Pacific August 8. Next Mercury Retrograde November 6, 2012 (in Fire sign Sagittarius)

Mercury Retrograde Heads Up!!

It’s time again – Mercury starts its Retrograde cycle on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:16PM Eastern/ 7:16PM Pacific.  Mercury, the planet of communication, transportation, manual dexterity, appears to move backward in the sky 3 times a year in different signs. This time, Mercury will be Retrograde in fiery, flirtatious, fun seeking Leo, the 5th sign of the Zodiac until August 7/8, 2012.  This sign’s typical charming, “look at me scenarios” can turn to high melodrama as a result of misunderstandings/ miscommunication, etc. Be careful with what you say or write. Cement plans, confirm directions, back up files, make sure all those little electronic gadgets are working, to cut down on any possible confusion or hurt feelings.

If things went well the last Mercury Retrograde, 3/12/12 – 4/14/12, excellent – it can be done again.  As always, use these 3 weeks to review, rethink, revise so that when Mercury stops and reverses, it’s forward motion can be taken advantage of and projects that appeared to be stalled are  rejuvenated and relaunched with the benefit of any retooling that was done.

Also, with the potential to cause a bit more mischief, Uranus, planet of eccentricity, freedom and unpredictability, is Retrograde from July 13, 2012 until 12/13/12 in Fire sign Aries.  Often referred to as the higher octave of Mercury, Uranus’s slowdown, might soften the natural edginess, and nervous energy it has, but don’t test it. Keep forks away from outlets, back up the hard drive and keep those batteries charged.

As always, where Mercury, and Uranus, appears in the individual chart determines what part of life is most affected by a planet’s Retrograde motion, but regardless, being pro active avoiding potential pitfalls works.

Mercury Retrograde 3/12/12 Reminder!

Just another heads up – early today, 3:49am EDT / 12:49am PDT, planet Mercury began its Retrograde motion in Fire sign Aries (it appears to move backward in the sky). Snafus lurk behind transportation, technical, and communication corners. But, the confusion does not have to be inevitable. We can mitigate the potential mess by paying attention to details.

As mentioned in last week’s post, get travel plans and information updated and confirmed, back up files, make sure all those little electronic gadgets are working, etc. and be positive. Rather than think of Mercury Retrograde as a disaster, use the 3 weeks of its backward trek as an opportunity to re evaluate and /or re process. When the planet goes forward again, new plans will have the clarity and energy needed to get off the ground.

Mercury Retrograde: March 12th through April 4th

Mercury Retrograde March 12 – Pause and Refresh

It’s time for those “re” words again – rethink, rework, revisit, revitalize, reduce (not physically). The 1st Mercury Retrograde for 2012 will be upon us on Monday, March 12 in fiery Aries. Take time to go over details while communications planet Mercury goes backwards in the sky. Project initiation/creation would be best delayed, if possible, until it goes Direct again in Water sign Pisces on 4/4 – if not, be meticulous, be careful, “review”.

Let us prepare early. Get travel plans and information updated and confirmed, back up files, make sure all those little electronic gadgets are working, etc. However, be positive. Rather than think of Mercury Retrograde as a disaster, use the 3 weeks of its backward trek as an opportunity to re evaluate and /or re process. When the planet goes forward again, new plans will have the power and energy needed to get off the ground.

But waiting, thinking things through, dealing with the details, may be easier said than done. Mars ruled Aries is a naturally impatient spark plug urging us to jump off that ledge or send verbal shocks to the universe just because – it’ll be sooooo exciting. This is not such a good time for Aries rashness and risk.  If you must walk on the wild side, look before you leap, take a breath before you speak (It can still be fun).

Life will continue to happen. We will get through it!

FYI – Mercury Retrograde in Aries:

3/12/12 (3:49am EDT / 12:49am PDT)

Backwards into Pisces on 3/23/12 (9:22am EDT / 6:23am PDT)

Stops and then  goes Direct in Pisces on 4/4/12 (5:11am EDT/ 3:11am PDT).

Mercury will reach Aries again on 4/16/12 (6:42pm EDT / 3:42PM PDT).

It Ain’t Over Til That Lady Sings!

We still have a few more weeks until Retrograde Mercury, fleet footed planet of communication, travel, etc., goes forward again on December 13, 2011. We can get thru this people! When the planet started its final backward movement of the year on November 25 in Sagittarius, you may have noticed little breakdowns, little snafus, little misunderstandings. Often the severity of the mishap just had to do with how much attention was being paid to what was being said or done. My suggestion is to focus and continue to check all lists, plans and directions a few times, just in case.

Remember, the Sun moved into the 9th sign of the Zodiac on 11/22, so the Sagittarian traits of learning, travel, education, adventure and risk taking are pushed to the forefront. As mentioned in a previous post, this season can be terrific fun and Mercury is appropriately in the sign ruled by big Jupiter, the planet of “more”.  Everything sparkles, spirits are high – the abundance of festivities can be outrageous (in a good way). But, with all the excitement, all the busyness, it will be easy to overlook some details.

As always, where Mercury appears in the individual chart determines what part of life is most affected by the planet’s Retrograde motion, but regardless, being careful and mindful of pitfalls is a good thing for all of us.

Try to delay major plans if you can for about 2 more weeks. Yes, life doesn’t stop. If you have something pressing to take care of, handle it – but don’t rush. Examine it before your sign it.

FYI: Mercury Retrograde started November 23, 2011 (11:21 PM Pacific) / November 24, 2011 (2:21 AM Eastern) = Ends the evening of December 13, 2011 .

Next Mercury Retrograde, March 12, 2012

Final Mercury Retrograde of 2011 – Yay!

This Wednesday, the last Mercury Retrograde of the year occurs in the jolly Fire sign of Sagittarius. The Sun already bounced into this 9th sign of the Zodiac on 11/22, so all its traits of learning, travel, education, adventure and risk taking are pushed to the forefront. Mercury is all about communication, transportation, movement, how we deal with variety and since this planet’s “backward” motion can often cause confusion, misunderstandings, snafus – my suggestion is check all lists, big plans and directions twice.

T’is the season for all kinds of festivities and Mercury is appropriately in the sign ruled by big Jupiter, the planet of “more”.  Everything sparkles, spirits are high – this can be great fun. But, with all the excitement, all the busyness, have you overlooked any details? Be organized. Make sure those toys have the batteries needed. If you make promises to be with people, write them down and show up. Travel plans?  – don’t book a flight to Paris, Texas when you actually made plans to meet friends at the Eiffel Tower. (This is my favorite and often used example of  an “oops” vacation). Misreading a bank balance can fog the reality into not realizing that 10 bottles of champagne is more financially manageable than a case.

As always, where Mercury appears in the individual chart determines what part of life is most affected by the planet’s Retrograde motion, but regardless, being careful and mindful of pitfalls is a good thing for all of us.

Try to delay major plans for a few weeks. Yes, life doesn’t stop. If you have something pressing to take care of, handle it – but don’t rush. Examine it before your sign it.

FYI: Mercury Retrograde starts November 23, 2011 (11:21 PM Pacific) / November 24, 2011 (2:21 AM Eastern) = Ends the evening of December 13, 2011 . The veil should lift, the confusion abates and we can go forward with purpose on all that we have been rethinking , renegotiating and re evaluating.

Astrology: It Isn’t Over – Mercury Is Still Retrograde!

Let’s not get loose and lax. Mercury, planet of communication, transportation, small gadgets, is still going backward in the sky. It went Retrograde on Tuesday 8/2 and will continue its reverse motion until 8/26.  So continue to pay attention to details, stay alert and nail down exactly when that bus /train /plane is scheduled to leave. Make sure you back up your files, your wireless devices are charged and everything is working properly. Also, if your gas gauge shows “E”, believe it, accept that the car is on Empty or close to it. This is not the time to test your luck.

Retrograde started in Earth sign Virgo, moved backward into the 5th Zodiac sign of Leo on 8/8 and will continue until it finally stops on 8/26 (still in Fire sign Leo). Mercury will then go Direct and you may notice a gradual lifting of the fog, gadgets working again, etc.  However, it will not reach the sign it rules, Virgo, again until 9/9. That is when communications, written or spoken and plans you may have for health / diet upgrades will really take flight. When Mercury is in one of the signs it rules, Gemini is the other, their traits are energized. Analytical, practical Virgo should show up and be about getting things done.

Remember my usual suggestions for Mercury Retrograde – see it as an opportunity to review, reconsider, re-think, re write. However, note that as we do this, we are not going backwards into the past, we are pro actively making any needed changes, re evaluations for the future.

Try to recall how you waded through whatever snafus or confusion resulted the last time Mercury was Retrograde in March 2011. You can do it again!
