Heads Up * 1st Mercury Retrograde of 2019!

Mercury Retrograde occurs 3 times a year and the 1st one of 2019 will be on Tuesday, March 5 (ends 3/28/19). This time, Mercury the planet of communications, education, travel / transportation and small gadgets goes backward in the imaginative, impressionable Water sign of Pisces.

What to do? What does it all mean? In a nutshell: pay attention as you speak, write, listen and read. Contract signings, innovations, new investments should be delayed if possible and certainly not attempted until after close scrutiny. Pisces and its planet ruler Neptune can push us far away from the real. It might be great for creativity, but not so much for focusing on the details. Be precise. Vague, fuzzy thinking could cost you.

Mercury Retrograde is always a good time to make plans, complete projects and of course to exercise all those “re” actions: re evaluate, rewrite, re assess, re acquaint, re address. We can take time to pause and reflect, rather than jump into new schemes.

However, life does NOT stop because a planet goes backward. If you can’t wait until it’s over and you have to make plans, complete projects, submit reports, etc. Keep track, keep copies, jot down details, just in case work has to be repeated, or something gets lost. Double check travel plans, instructions, etc. Get a grip. Mitigate the severity of any possible messes that may occur.

Hey, Final Mercury Retrograde of 2018!

On Friday, November 16, 2018, Mercury will go Retrograde for the final time this year in the adventure loving, optimistic Fire sign of Sagittarius. The planet of communications, transportation, education, health, medical treatments, business negotiations and of course technical gadgets, will appear to reverse motion in the sky – often corresponding to things seeming to go a little backward on earth. Hold on, we can do this.

Anticipate, anticipate, anticipate – snafus, avoidable travel delays, wrong destinations, tempermental tech situations, and Email, Twitter & FB miscommunications. Back up your stuff, pause before hitting “send”, read that contract again before signing. Pay attention to the details. It just takes a little extra time. (Beats the embarrassment of your “reply all” shade fest flying out into the universe)

My usual suggestions for Mercury Retrograde: Take time to review, reconsider, re-think, revisit. See it as an opportunity to make adjustments and corrections where needed.

Get a Grip – Mercury Goes Retrograde Again on 7/25!

Settle down, get focused, Mercury –  planet of communications, transportation, education, health, medical treatments, business negotiations and of course technical gadgets – will go Retrograde on Wednesday 7/25/18 in creative, fun, Fire sign Leo. This isn’t tragic, but it could cause disruptions, missed connections, botched contracts, etc. Needless to say, we can all do without any unnecessary confusion. Pay attention to the details!

Of course, there are chores and plans that must be dealt with regardless of what Mercury is doing. Can we stave off any potential mischief and mayhem that a back pedaling Mercury portends? Maybe not completely, but we can certainly take precautions so that anxiety packed snafus can be avoided (or at least lessened). Back up all the tech stuff, check batteries, pause before hitting that “send” button, verify travel plans, be meticulous and be careful. It can save you time by not having to fix or repeat things later – such as missing a signature on a contract, the check really does get lost in the mail, catching the wrong plane, (my favorite: Paris, Texas instead of the one in France), etc.

Here We Go – 1st Mercury Retrograde of 2018!

Heads up! The first Mercury Retrograde of 2018 happens on Thursday March 22, in the first sign of the Zodiac – impulsive, energetic, “me first”, Aries. In the midst of the Communication planet’s backward move, there can be snafus, confusion, flubbed details, wild declarations while speaking, texting & FBing. Besides written / verbal interaction, this may affect business, education, small gadgets (back up your stuff) and transportation (travel delays, wrong destinations – a few weeks ago a German Shepherd destined for Kansas, wound up in Japan).

Mercury Retrograde is a challenging time for Aries’ natural Impatience & heat. Think first. Be aware, be clear, watch the tantrum trigger. If feeling the need to argue or admonish, do it without the scorched earth approach. (Put the flame thrower back in the closet. You might be blowing up over incorrect information.)

Rather than initiate anything new, review and revisit ideas, revitalize old projects, re invent an approach. If you must sign a contract and / or begin something important, check everything twice, make sure the details are precise. Avoid having to do it over again.

The Final Mercury Retrograde Of 2017!

It is over for 2017, Saturday, 12/2 in the West and Sunday, 12/3 in the East. The last Mercury Retrograde of the year may affect, as always, those particular things in this fleet footed planet’s domain – communication (written, spoken), education, transportation, business, technical gadgets and small appliances. Can we stave off any potential mischief and mayhem that a back pedaling Mercury portends? Maybe not completely, but we can certainly take precautions so that anxiety packed snafus can be avoided (or at least lessened).

With the sluggishness of the Retrograde in Sagittarius, energy may be blunted or optimism scattered. There may be slips of the tongue or pen, Freudian or otherwise. (Read tweets before sending!) Project initiation / creation would be best delayed if possible – if not, be meticulous, be careful. Make sure you’re standing at the correct Bus Stop. We can overcome, we can handle, we can deal – as long as we jump all over the details and “back up” stuff. Stay grounded and pay attention to contract negotiations, deadlines, etc. This planet’s often confusion generating reversal continues until 12/22/17, when it stops motion and goes Direct, still in Sagittarius.

Spontaneous, Sagacious, Sag Sun 11/21/17

Just in time for the holiday, we were graced with a cheery Sagittarius Sun on Tuesday November 21, 2017. Ruled by exuberant Jupiter, the king of positive thinking, everything is “huge”- ideas, actions, themes. Remember to pause occasionally and look over the landscape – not only to enjoy the view, but also to realize that some of those “sure things” are not. The “go BIG or go home” routine will not always work to your advantage. Certainly be an “of course” for excellent results, reach for the good things, discover something new, pay attention to your intuition (a Sag loves a good laugh but they are also deep and love to ponder the universe) but, just be aware of the edges – over confidence can send you too far. If the situation warrants, aim for controlled excess.

Just to make it more interesting, Saturn, planet of discipline and limits, which is quite different to Jupiter‘s goals (expansion on steroids), has been transiting the 9th sign of the Zodiac since December 2016. Depending on where it appears in your chart, the desire for adventure and living large might seem muted. Saturn moves into the next sign, Capricorn, on December 20, 2017.

Reminder * It’s Mercury Retrograde ‘Til 9/5/17

It started in Earth sign Virgo on 8/12/17 and reverses into Fiery Leo where it will go Direct on 9/5/17. The possibility of communication snafus are increased because Mercury is in one of the signs it rules, Virgo (the other is Gemini). When the planet transits the detail focused 6th sign of the Zodiac, its concerns are amped – analyze, write, speak, teach, work, diet, service. With the added mischief of “Retrograde”, misunderstandings, slips of the tongue or pen, (Freudian or otherwise), can occur.

However, chaos is not inevitable. We can mitigate potential missed and mixed messages by jumping all over the details. Little things can impact larger things big time. Back up, fine tune your gadgets, computers and phones. Project initiation / creation would be best delayed if possible – if not, be meticulous, pay attention.

Mercury Retrograde 4/9 in Taurus – $$$, Security

The Communication planet has been slowing down for the last few days, you may have noticed some snafu like occurrences lately. It stops and reverses direction on April 9, 2017 until May 3, 2017 when it will go forward again. The planet will retrograde in steady, pleasure loving Earth sign Taurus, the 2nd sign of the Zodiac (security, finances and business). Prepare for it. Living through a Mercury Retrograde isn’t automatically “a DISASTER!”.  

The dicy bits often happen when we need to negotiate deals, sign contacts, repair gadgets, finalize details, etc. Mercury is concerned with information, travel, education, technical gadgets and small appliances – things that help our lives go.

A backwards Mercury often means that things have to be repeated. Whatever you thought was “done” isn’t. Therefore, this is a great time to rethink, reassess, revisit, review, rewrite, etc. It is best not to sign anything for a few weeks until after the planet is in direct motion, however if you must commit, be attentive, be mindful – details, details, details. Verify, double check and confirm. Be clear in your interactions to avoid confusion.

We will get over  😉 The next Mercury Retrograde is on August 12, 2017 in Virgo, another Earth sign.

Together * Winter Solstice & Capricorn Sun – 12/21/16!

On Wednesday December 21, 2016, Winter arrived in the Northern Hemisphere, some places more dramatically than others, but it’s the Winter Solstice nevertheless and always in tandem is the Capricorn Sun. Ambitious, efficient, grounded, practical and patient, this Earth sign is ruled by serious planet Saturn.

There’s no need to have a letdown after the very different upbeat holiday revelry most of us have been experiencing under the Sagittarius Sun. The 10th sign of the Zodiac can keep us busy networking, tuning up career moves, and organizing whatever needs to be shaped up. Make something happen. Just don’t get so bogged down in responsibilities and being “in charge” that you become rigid and cautious.  Fun can still be had!

Regardless of your birth date, we can still feel Capricorn’s influence as we reach for an upgrade in status, get a thrill directing traffic and telling people what to do and where to go. Being the “top dog” is not a burden. Being in charge is welcome – fun for the boss, but maybe not so much for the employee? Remember to be careful with how you treat others, you can be authoritative with honey, rather than vinegar.

On 12/19/16, Final Mercury Retrograde Of The Year – Yay!

Of course there will more in 2017, April 9th is next, but for now… The 4th Mercury Retrograde for 2016 will be in an Earth sign again – Capricorn 10th sign of the Zodiac. The Communication planet has been slowing down for the last few days, you may have noticed some snafu like occurrences lately, but it stands still on December 19, 2016 – be ready for it. Pay particular attention to what concerns ambitious Capricorn. Business, status, career and authority are at the forefront. Verify, double check and / or confirm negotiations, contracts, appointments, etc. be clear in your interactions to avoid confusion.

Mercury is concerned with all types of information, but also travel, education, tech stuff and small appliances. It’s often confusion generating backward sky motion starts in reliable, conventional, efficient Capricorn and moves back into upbeat, energetic Fire sign Sagittarius on 1/5/17. Then goes Direct on 1/8/17, reaching Capricorn again on 1/13/17.
