This month’s Full Moon is in the Fire sign of Aries on Friday October 18, 2013. During this Full phase, the Libra Sun is directly opposite and lights the Aries Moon. Rather than the more familiar crescent shape, the Moon is beautifully round. As it “wanes” on its way to the 3^rd and 4^th quarters, it’s a good time to finish up old projects, clean up messes that you have been staring at for the past few weeks. An Aries Moon is perfect for physical activity. So use the extra energy and get it done! By clearing out useless stuff, you create space for the “new” – ideas, things, spaces, people. However, this forceful sign, ruled by Mars, can be a little over the top sometimes. Don’t automatically use the flame thrower to weed out the old, think things through before throwing it out.

Then as the Venus ruled Taurus Moon arrives early Saturday morning, we have 2 days of practicality, resourcefulness, security mindedness along with leanings toward comfort and beauty. Diverse and all good.

An extra oomph, an extra buzz are just some of what we will experience as a result of the Aries Moon transit beginning on Friday morning 8/23/13. Aries, the first Fire sign of the Zodiac, ruled by planet Mars, can make us confrontational and hurried, so watch the combustion. Strive for the hammer in the velvet glove approach. Personally, I think super things can happen with all the high energy as long as feet stay on the ground. Keep cockiness to a minimum whenever possible. (At least try.)

Atmosphere calms as the Moon moves into practical Taurus early Sunday morning. Our thoughts turn to money – again. But, since this Earth sign is ruled by Venus, wanting to get close to love and luxury will also be in the air. Beautify self and surroundings to spur romace. And maybe strategize about what needs to be done to feel financially and emotionally secure?

On Friday May 31, 2013, the Moon is in the emotional water sign of Pisces until Saturday evening. Dreamy, fuzzy, sensitive – focus may be difficult. Don’t take on the troubles of the world. Good news for artists – great time for creativity and imagination.

The Moon slips into fiery “let’s get physical” Aries late on Saturday and remains until Monday. There will probably be lots of activity, lots of energy – make no rash moves, watch the temper, be nice and have fun!

It’s a Taurus Moon beginning Friday evening January 18, 2013. Feeling beautiful, stubborn and material? It might be the vibrations of this fixed, finance focused Earth sign guided by the elegant, luxury loving planet Venus. There may be choices to be made about weekend plans. Either tackle those finances (taxes anyone?) or indulge yourself (along with a significant other?) with one of those decadent little chocolate cakes with the red raspberry filling! Money vs Romance – remember, not all things are either/or. “AND” can often work very well too.

Regardless, the determined, solid Taurus influence enables us to get things done and finish whatever was started during the impetuous Aries Moon of the previous few days. You can manage your cash and still be good to yourself and loved ones.

After the fierce, feisty Aries Moon on Friday December 21, 2012, we calm down when the Lunar orb moves into earthy, solid, Venus ruled Taurus for Saturday and Sunday. It’s about sensuality, life’s beauty and pleasures, but since the second sign of the Zodiac is a “fixed” sign, it also brings forth the obstinate bull in us. 

Is there such a thing as inflexible love?  Nobody wants to lose, give up/ give in, change direction. “Stickin-to-your-guns” works – until it doesn’t. Pay attention and accept when being stubborn stops getting the results wanted. Just surround yourself with good food, good people and good times as much as you can – after all, it is the holiday season.

Mars: Warrior planet, ruler of Scorpio (and Aries), high energy spark plug of the universe will be transiting sizzling, sensual, seductive Scorpio for 6 weeks beginning Thursday August 23, 2012. Heat squared!

Well, just an FYI – The red planet is very comfortable in the 8^th sign of the Zodiac and may just unleash any passions that have been kept under wraps until now. Focus becomes laser-like, the need to WIN becomes fierce (do not play Go Fish or checkers with children), the object of your affections will know that they are the object of your affections and “temperament” will be spelled with a capital “T”. Hmmmm

Of course, the intensity is dependent upon where Mars falls in the birth chart and whether Scorpio is the Birth and / or Rising sign, however, intense Martian energy will surround us all. Keep breathing, stop and pause before totally succumbing to a tantrum or hissy fit. Power and passion can surely be used in beneficial, joyous ways.

Mars in Scorpio : August 23, 2012  – October 7, 2012

On Friday morning August 3, 2012, the moon gentles its way into vulnerable, sensitive, creative, often mystical Pisces. A Water sign, ruled by impressionable Neptune, the Pisces Moon may have you looking for an escape to another world by any means handy, but stay grounded, stay in body. Don’t let “feelings” overwhelm you or lose your grip on the real. Be as caring and compassionate as you wish, just don’t be taken in by any sad stories or promises too good to be true.

Sunday afternoon, we are thrust into the next Moon sign – “in your face”, high energy, high octane, fiery Aries for 2 days. Stand up for yourself, but be nice. Temper the Aries vinegar with some leftover Pisces honey.

It’s time again – Mercury starts its Retrograde cycle on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:16PM Eastern/ 7:16PM Pacific.  Mercury, the planet of communication, transportation, manual dexterity, appears to move backward in the sky 3 times a year in different signs. This time, Mercury will be Retrograde in fiery, flirtatious, fun seeking Leo, the 5^th sign of the Zodiac until August 7/8, 2012.  This sign’s typical charming, “look at me scenarios” can turn to high melodrama as a result of misunderstandings/ miscommunication, etc. Be careful with what you say or write. Cement plans, confirm directions, back up files, make sure all those little electronic gadgets are working, to cut down on any possible confusion or hurt feelings.

If things went well the last Mercury Retrograde, 3/12/12 – 4/14/12, excellent – it can be done again.  As always, use these 3 weeks to review, rethink, revise so that when Mercury stops and reverses, it’s forward motion can be taken advantage of and projects that appeared to be stalled are  rejuvenated and relaunched with the benefit of any retooling that was done.

Also, with the potential to cause a bit more mischief, Uranus, planet of eccentricity, freedom and unpredictability, is Retrograde from July 13, 2012 until 12/13/12 in Fire sign Aries.  Often referred to as the higher octave of Mercury, Uranus’s slowdown, might soften the natural edginess, and nervous energy it has, but don’t test it. Keep forks away from outlets, back up the hard drive and keep those batteries charged.

As always, where Mercury, and Uranus, appears in the individual chart determines what part of life is most affected by a planet’s Retrograde motion, but regardless, being pro active avoiding potential pitfalls works.
