Astrology: Weekend Moon in Aries and Taurus – Action, Love, Finances!

All day Friday and Sunday, 5/27 and 5/28, we will feel the influence of the Aries Moon.  This aggressive, impatient Fire sign is ruled by the planet Mars – the unofficial patron saint of warriors.  Arian Moons are great for action rather than mental activity, but still a good time to initiate, take charge- just think it thru and go for it. Use the physicality to burn off any anger or frustration that might be lurking.

All day Sunday and Holiday Monday, 5/29 and 5/30, the Taurus Moon turns our thoughts to money – again. But, since this Earth sign is ruled by Venus, getting close to love and luxury will also be in the air. Beautify self and surroundings. And maybe strategize about what needs to be done to feel financially and emotionally secure?

Astrology: Versatile Gemini Sun, 5/21/11* Be busy, Have Fun

The characteristic youthfulness of Gemini has nothing to do with immaturity. It is a curiosity for new places and things, the enjoyment of doing several things at once and the willingness to adapt that keeps the wrinkles, mental and physical, at bay. They almost always look younger than their age. Fun, flirty, festivity loving, focus challenged, flexible, flighty (Full disclosure – I have a Gemini Sun, so I’m really having fun w/this 🙂

Early Saturday morning, May 21, the Sun bounced into this flexible, variety loving Air sign, 5:21AM Eastern / 2:21AM Pacific. Let the multi-tasking begin! Ruled by the communication planet Mercury, we will all feel some of this sign’s influences, regardless of our Zodiac sign. There may be sudden urges to learn something new, meet and greet, read and write, chat too much/gossip too much, wishes to be in two places at once (that “twin” thing). And don’t forget travel, whether it be real or arm chair, the search for greener grass will be enticing.

This can all be such a good time, but also exhausting. Rather than be overwhelmed or scattered, hit the pause button occasionally. Collect your thoughts, watch what you say (Gemini verbal cleverness is legendary, just don’t be verbally careless), re focus, complete tasks that need to be finished, then go on to the next.

Astrology: Powerful Full Moon in Scorpio 5/17/11

Life will be a bit more intense with the Moon in Scorpio and when this luminary is at its “Full” phase in this determined, emotional Water sign, power and passion can go off the charts. The Scorpio Full Moon arrives on Tuesday May 17, 7:09AM Eastern/ 4:09 AM Pacific. Be gentle or you could really rock someone’s world – intentionally or not. (Dial back on some of the drama?)

Scorpio pushes us to focus on money matters that may involve others. Are there any financial issues that need to be cleared or settled– taxes, business ventures? During a Full Moon, gauge what has been accomplished so far and move to finalize, complete tasks in the next few weeks. (Sort of a ”what have I done?” and “what’s next”.)

BTW: about 6 hours later, the Moon shifts and we get to enjoy the upbeat , positive Sagittarius Lunar influence until Thursday May 19, however,  the “Full Moon” energy remains. Use it.

Astrology: Moon in Libra 5/13/11 * Charm Rules the Weekend!

Friday the 13th – What me worry?? Nope – no “triskaidekaphobia” here! It will be a beautiful day filled with charm and beauty. Especially once the Lunar orb arrives in the social, partnership focused Air sign of Libra. This Venus ruled sign urges us to cooperate, find balance, seek out pretty things, partake of good food – just harmony and general deliciousness. Moon in Libra 11:56AM Eastern/ 8:56AM Pacific, May 13.

The mood turns serious and intense with a Scorpio Moon on Sunday May 15, 12:32 PM Eastern/ 9:32AM Pacific. Emotions run deep. No time for the superficial.  You can dig and get to the bottom of any mysteries that are troubling you.

Regardless of what you’re up to, have a great weekend, as always, take advantage and use whatever good forces you can.

BTW: I have found that Friday the 13th is usually lucky for me. I don’t think it had to do with it being a payday or anything?  I expect good things to happen! (Hope I don’t sound too “pollyanna-ish”)

Astrology: Weekend Moon in Familycentric Cancer 5/6/11

This can be a weekend of emotional mood swings, creativity and/or feeding loved ones as the Moon glides its way into the nurturing Water sign of Cancer on Friday night, May 6, 10:32 PM Eastern / 7:32PM Pacific.

Remaining until Sunday, the Moon, Cancer’s ruler, may also give us some feelings of sensitivity  and vulnerability. Rather than looking for hurt feelings – your own or anyone else’s – be proactive. Astrology: The Moon is “New” in Taurus 5/2 and 5/3/11

The Taurus New Moon arrives at 11:51PM Pacific on Monday May 2nd and 2:51AM Eastern on Tuesday May 3rd (3 hour time zone difference). A “New Moon” heralds beginnings and is a great time to initiate projects, make changes. The Sun has been in this second sign of the Zodiac since 4/20.  With both luminaries in this practical, determined Venus ruled Earth sign, Taurean themes are highlighted and intensified – romance, beauty, creativity, finances.  Time for a new love, a new project, a new budget?

You can be loving and creative while managing your cash. Re evaluate how you spend and save your money. Financial stability may allow you to still indulge yourself and your loved ones when you want without causing a budgetary crisis. Bull-like resistance to change, classic Taurus stubbornness, may not work now – contemplate a new way of doing things when needed.

Astrology: Feisty Aries Moon Weekend 4/29/11

An extra oomph, an extra buzz are just some of the possibilities as a result of the Aries Moon transit beginning on Friday April 29, 1:33PM Eastern/ 10:33AM Pacific.  Got something to do, something to start, something to face???Tap into the Fire sign’s energy. Aggressive planet ruler Mars is still visiting this peppy sign, along with Venus, Uranus, Jupiter and Mercury – powerful. Hmmmmm.

Hold the combustion unless absolutely necessary. Strive for the hammer in the velvet glove approach. Personally, I think super things can happen as long as feet stay on the ground. Keep cockiness to a minimum. (Is that even possible? Well, try.)

Atmosphere calms as the Lunar orb moves into practical Taurus late Sunday evening revving up for Monday’s New Moon in this Earth sign.

DVD Corner: “A Prophet”

French film, A Prophet (Un Prophète, 2009) directed by Jacques Audiard struck me as a cautionary tale for wayward youth. It details the experiences of 19 year old Malik (Tahar Rahim) as he serves his 8 year prison sentence for refusing to cooperate with police.

A product of juvenile detention facilities, incarceration in an adult prison matures him, not in the way usually meant. Instead of rehabilitation, “learning his lesson” while repaying his debt to society, etc., prison teaches him questionable survival skills and he toughens. What he learns in prison far surpasses what he could have learned on the streets.

Surviving alone may work on the outside, but in captivity, being part of a group is vital, and being the top dog in that group is prime, doing whatever it takes to get there. Malik adapts to the inhumanity that surrounds him and prospers.

You get drawn into the story and after awhile, you start to root for this young man and want him to rise above somehow. Which perhaps is a testament to both the acting and writing because Malik does some evil stuff, but you still want him alive and freed after his 8 years. (It’s not so much that you want him to “win”- but you want him to survive, to live long enough to discover another way of being in the world.)

But, what lingering effects will violent actions and experiences have on a kid? Are they difficult to erase like tattoos? Is he branded forever? I don’t know.

Fascinating movie.

Astrology: Weekend Moon – Capricorn, Then Aquarius, Variety!

Early Friday April 22 gives us a business focused, responsible Capricorn Moon. The urge to be in charge, the urge to get things accomplished, the urge to work hard – all with the deliberate movement of this Earth sign.

An Aquarius Moon on Sunday ends the weekend on an unpredictable, but upbeat note. This Air sign is into group activities, volunteering, service to and/or organizing others. Contribution is always a good thing – gives a great start to the week ahead.

This forward motion for the communication planet, after the 3 week Retrograde situation, may show up with solutions for stalled projects, the unlocking of writer’s blocks, a miraculous self repair for computers, smart phones, etc? Ah, life is smooth again! (Well, as much as it can be)
