Lights! Camera! Action! – Full Moon in Leo!

A dramatic, fun, open and generous Leo Moon sets the tone for any weekend festivities, whether they be planned or unplanned. Exciting “look at me” melodrama is always possible with the fiery 5th sign of the Zodiac and since the Lunar orb is also in its “Full” phase, lit by its opposite Sun in Aquarius, fireworks are possible. Strive for calm. Turn down that theatrical flame a little, try to sparkle in moderation on Saturday and Sunday, if that’s even possible.  Astro Moon Full

Leo wants us to be active, upbeat and regally magnanimous as we use the Full Moon to wrap things up and bring projects to completion. This fortunate time will last for about 10 days even as the Moon moves into the next sign of practical Virgo.

Enjoy the weekend!

Time For The Aquarius Sun * 1/19/13

astrology_chartwheel 2The Sun freedom walks its way into the independent, people oriented, humanitarian, 11th sign of the Zodiac, Aquarius. An Air sign ruled by unpredictable, unconventional, Uranus, we may feel an urge to join a rally, march and protest for any cause deemed to be just. It’s all about “We/Us” rather than “I/Me”.  Caring about neighbors and the community, being involved and determined to find resolutions to issues that touch them is the Aquarian way of being. We can all tap into these vibrations regardless of our personal Sun sign.

Aggressive, high energy, warrior planet Mars has been in Aquarius since 12/26/12 and leaves on 2/2/13. As it transits, power is lent to the group focused traits of this sign – volunteering, organizing, disseminating helpful information- we can aim to leave a place better than we found it. Not a bad goal.

Mercury slips into innovative Aquarius on the same day that the Sun does and stimulates all forms of communication until February 5, 2013. Write down any clever and original ideas percolating to the surface and share with the group. However, with Mars so close by, be careful of any strident, angry language.

Sun into Aquarius January 19, 2013 = 4:52PM EST / 1:52 PM PST

BTW: don’t get confused – even though the Astrology symbol is the “Water Bearer”, Aquarius is an Air sign!

A Taurus Weekend * Love & Money!

Astro New Moon CrescentIt’s a Taurus Moon beginning Friday evening January 18, 2013. Feeling beautiful, stubborn and material? It might be the vibrations of this fixed, finance focused Earth sign guided by the elegant, luxury loving planet Venus. There may be choices to be made about weekend plans. Either tackle those finances (taxes anyone?) or indulge yourself (along with a significant other?) with one of those decadent little chocolate cakes with the red raspberry filling! Money vs Romance – remember, not all things are either/or. “AND” can often work very well too.

Regardless, the determined, solid Taurus influence enables us to get things done and finish whatever was started during the impetuous Aries Moon of the previous few days. You can manage your cash and still be good to yourself and loved ones.

Make the weekend great!

New Moon in Capricorn, Weekend in Aquarius

Astro New Moon CrescentThe first New Moon of 2013 happens on Friday January 11h. The Lunar Orb is in ambitious, career minded Earth Sign Capricorn – a great way to start the year when you want to devise goals and plans for a status upgrade – strategize! Like all New Moons, it always occurs in the same sign as the current Sun placement intensifying and powering its Astrology traits, characteristics. As I’ve said before, New Moons are always full of “beginning” possibilities, this 10th sign of the Zodiac can supply the pragmatism and discipline to go forward and pursue a path to success.

Even though the Moon will change signs, the “New” energy lasts for about 10 days. From duty bound convention to irreverent rebel, Saturday and Sunday will be under the vibe of the friendly, unpredictable, independent Aquarius Moon. We may be more inclined to do something original, to be spontaneous, to be ready to join the revolution. (Find that old Che T-Shirt 😎 ) Organize a community or group to do some good.

New Moon: Friday 1/11/13 2:44 PM EST / 11:44 AM PST

Moon in Libra, Then Scorpio – Mixed Weekend

Astro moon-waning-crescent-lThe 1st Friday of 2013, January 4th, gives us a Libra Moon so that we start the weekend off on an artistic, relationship focused, harmony loving note. Persuade someone over to your point-of-view? Find a compromise? This Air sign fosters good feelings, people activities, beauty and creativity. Smile and enjoy it.

Saturday evening, the Moon will move into serious, secretive, stubborn Scorpio. This Water sign will have us “feel” things. Emotions can be dramatic and intense. No patience for the superficial – “real” conversations, one-on-one connections are demanded, drilling down to reveal the hidden is not unusual. (Going deep has its advantages.)

We can be flexible, go with the flow – we can have a great weekend!

Wow, 2012 Went By So Fast!

After a night of revelry, (how many choruses of Auld Lang Syne did you sing -making up the words along the way ?), a January 1st  analytical, responsible, down to earth Virgo Moon gives us the push to start 2013 in a mood to put things in order, pay attention to the details, make some plans to fill in that blank 2013 calendar, that blank slate –  to create, to contribute, to cram full of the good things in life. Make it fun, no pressure.

Health, Peace, Joy

happy new year

Weekend Moon: Full in Cancer, Bright in Leo

Astro Moon FullThe Full Moon in the nurturing, sensitive Water sign of Cancer, on Friday December 28th, intensifies and highlights its natural traits: taking care of people, feelings and emotions being close to the surface, having your moods run you. Don’t forget to take care of yourself and your stuff. Just as a “New” Moon is best for beginning projects- starting something new, implementation of ideas – the “Full” phase (Moon opposes the Sun in the sky, as it “wanes” on its way to the 3rd and 4th quarters) is optimum for the finalization of jobs pending, deals to be done. Clearing as much as possible off your plate before 2013 arrives can only be a good thing, right? Might alleviate any perceived pressures.

Late Saturday evening, the Moon shifts into upbeat, colorful, dramatic Leo, (however, the “Full” energy remains for approximately 10 days). The weekend could be full of fun, some showing off and lots of generosity of spirit. Fire sign Leo is ruled by the Sun so a pull towards theatrics always exists – just remember that it’s not all about you (or maybe it is!).

And, have a super weekend!

Weekend Moon in Sensual Taurus – Good Times!

After the fierce, feisty Aries Moon on Friday December 21, 2012, we calm down when the Lunar orb moves into earthy, solid, Venus ruled Taurus for Saturday and Sunday. It’s about sensuality, life’s beauty and pleasures, but since the second sign of the Zodiac is a “fixed” sign, it also brings forth the obstinate bull in us.  Astro New Moon Crescent

Is there such a thing as inflexible love?  Nobody wants to lose, give up/ give in, change direction. “Stickin-to-your-guns” works – until it doesn’t. Pay attention and accept when being stubborn stops getting the results wanted. Just surround yourself with good food, good people and good times as much as you can – after all, it is the holiday season.

Have a delightful weekend. Happy Holidays!

Winter is Here & So Is The Capricorn Sun!

astrology_chartwheel 2The Sun enters Capricorn on Friday December 21, 2012, and it also heralds the Winter Solstice, the official start of Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. This Earth sign, ruled by Saturn, believes in duty, responsibility, and loves being in charge. Regardless of our birthday, we may all feel some of the ambitious, “being the Boss” Capricorn energy until January 19, 2013 when the Sun moves into rebellious Aquarius.  Also, note that feisty, in your face Warrior planet Mars is visiting Capricorn until December 26, 2012. Be careful with others as you tell them what to do (Christmas tree decorating is supposed to be fun). You can be authoritative with honey, rather than vinegar.

No need to experience a letdown after all the holiday spirit. It’s the perfect time to look at what we’ve accomplished in 2012 and make plans for 2013. With Capricorn‘s affinity for work and organization, we can keep busy, accomplished and sensible. Tune up career moves, plan your networking push, determine whatever needs to be shaped up and do it. Make something happen. Just don’t get so bogged down that you become rigid and/or cautious.  Relax, remember that you have a sense of humor – use it.

Sun into Capricorn = December 21, 2012…6:12 AM EST / 3:12AM PST

BTW:  “The Winter Solstice occurs exactly when the Earth’s axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23° 26′. Though the winter solstice lasts only a moment in time, the term is also a turning point to midwinter or the first day of winter…The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the reversal of the gradual lengthening of nights and shortening of days.” (per WikiPedia)
