Communication & Caring – Weekend Moon

The Moon is in Gemini on Friday October 5, 2012. A set of twins is the usual symbol for Gemini and this duality makes us want to do two things at once- scrabble and crossword, chat and charm, read and write, FB and Twit. Just remember to breathe. Everything doesn’t have to happen at warp speed. Enjoy the communication, the interaction, the wit.

Next up, Saturday and Sunday, is the sensitive, nurturing, 4th sign of the Zodiac – Cancer. Ruled by the Moon, this caring, emotional Water sign can be moody and difficult, however, family and friends are always important and we will want to  look after them regardless of the mood we’re in.

Have a terrific weekend!

Shine on Full, Aries Harvest Moon!

All day Saturday and Sunday will be about Fiery Aries Moon energy. The Lunar orb will also be “Full”, which adds extra potency. The vibe should be perfect for any “David & Goliath”-like challenges you may have to deal with this weekend. Focus your physical, aggressive urges, strategize and think before you act (rash, over the top impulses can lead to embarrassment?). Warrior planet Mars rules spark plug Aries and it’s “In your face” tendencies can mean direct, honest, competitive rather than just loud and angry. The influence of the Harvest Moon transit thru this sign can make our weekend fast paced and exciting. Take advantage.

The Moon is “waning” on its way to the 3rd and 4th quarters, making it a good time to finish up old projects, clean up messes that you have been ignoring for the past few weeks. Once you clear out what has been hanging around, you will create space for the “New” – ideas, things, spaces. (The next New Moon will be 10/15/12 – in Air sign Libra.)

FYI – Harvest Moon 9/29/12, 11:19PM Eastern / 8:19PM Pacific. The first Full Moon after the Fall Equinox is always labeled a “Harvest Moon” (The Equinox occurred on September 22, when the Sun moved into Libra)

*During a “Full” phase, the luminaries are exactly opposite each other. The Aries  Moon is fully lit by the Libra Sun. (Beautiful, dramatic, nothing to fear.)

Sun into Libra – Charm Rules!

Fall is officially here and along with the Autumn Equinox, in the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun waltzed into Libra on Saturday September 22, 2012. Even if it isn’t your Sun or Rising sign, the 7th sign of the Zodiac will still cast a glow. It’s all about socializing, networking, getting along. There will be cooperation, genial negotiations and the urge to seek balance in both business and personal relationships. Good things in life are highlighted due to the influences of lovely planet ruler Venus – romance, music, delicious food, beauty, graciousness and hospitality. This can be a fun time.

Communication planet Mercury will be visiting Libra until October 5, 2012, it should make for clever, interesting dinner conversation. Saturn, planet of restrictions and just general “grownup-ness” has been transiting Libra for about 2 years. It leaves the Air sign on October 6, 2012. Any feelings of limitations due to the task master’s presence should dissipate. The plus side is you’ll be left with any results that focused, hardworking Saturn has left you. (Was decision making faster than usual?)

Seeking harmony, the Libra way is to see both sides of an issue before making up your mind. However, using the Pros/Cons list method can just string the selection process out. Be aware that important action can be stalled by over think. Paying attention to instinct and being honest will give a more direct line to a choice.

As always, your experience of the Sun in a particular sign depends most upon where it appears in your chart, but we still feel its influences.

Libra – Gemstone: Aventurine * Power colors: Blue and Violet * Body part: Kidneys

BTW:  The Scale is Libra’s Astrology symbol. All other Zodiac signs are either people or animals. (Interpret that however you wish.)

FYI: Libra Sun * Autumn Equinox  9/22/12 – 10:49AM Eastern / 7:49AM Pacific

A Bossy Capricorn Moon This Weekend!

From Saturday afternoon until Monday, we will be in the serious embrace of a Capricorn Moon. Ruled by the planet Saturn, the duty bound, authoritarian energy of the Earthy 10th sign of the Zodiac can really get us to step up to the front, assign tasks, give directions – be the BOSS!

Good time to strategize for any type of business activity. But, don’t go overboard, be nice to your employees (or any friends and family members that you’ve roped into assisting with chores). No need to go into “Myth of Sisyphus” mode – loosen up, stop grinding your teeth, delegate whenever possible and smile.

By Monday evening the Moon will be in fun, innovative, unpredictable Aquarius. Unplanned events are favored.

Work well and accomplish this weekend!

New Moon in Virgo – Get Things Done!

On Friday, both the Moon and the Sun are in efficient Virgo. That means this month’s New Moon, on Saturday September 15, 2012, will be in that same Earth sign. Like all “New” Lunar phases, the next 2 weeks are a great time for initiating, starting, creating, etc. Use it to organize and de-clutter both mind and surroundings. Take advantage of Virgo’s natural “I’ll handle it” approach to take a look at health and nutrition. Are there things to be improved – diet, exercise? Don’t spend too much time being critical of yourself. Take care of needed changes now.

Early Sunday morning, the Moon glides into partnership loving, luxury loving, understanding-both-sides- now loving Libra!  I think Airy Libra oozes such charm, fosters lovely win/win cooperation and drives us toward social interaction– a promotion, an introduction, a party?

Make the weekend worthwhile and exciting!

Great Weekend = Gemini Moon, Cancer Moon

Start the weekend on Friday September 7th and experience 2 days of a variety loving Gemini Moon. Ruled by the planet Mercury, we will be compelled to communicate – some way, somehow. This versatile Air sign may mean leisurely networking, or active socializing, it can be fun for us and/or just busy – or both. With dual faceted Gemini, the need for flexibility rules.

In time for Sunday brunch, the Lunar orb moves into it’s sign ruler – watery Cancer. Be prepared to dial it back a bit. The 4th sign of the Zodiac, sensitive, often moody and emotional,  is about protecting and nurturing. (It might be calming after all the Gemini twitting, emailing, voice mailing and FBing of the previous few days 🙂 )

Enjoy!

Full Blue Moon in Pisces This Weekend

The “Full” phase of the Moon intensifies the characteristics of the Astrology sign it’s in. When the Moon is Full in Watery Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac, expect: emotion, creativity, hazy reality. Friday August 31, 2012, is the 2nd Full Moon for this month. A rare occurrence, it only happens every 2 years or so – it’s referred to as “Blue”. (You know that expression – “once in a blue Moon”.)

However, back to Pisces – stay focused, be discerning. If things seem a little vague, you may want to delay any decision making or signing of documents. Your imagination will be stoked, therefore, this can be a great time for the arts. Use the heightened sensitivity to enjoy beautiful things. Spread some Pisces kindness among family and friends. Smile at nice looking strangers. (This is where that “discerning” thing comes in handy)

Aggressive, Fiery, Aries Moon for Sunday and Monday’s Labor Day. Be active, be curious, be lively, but stay out of mischief.

Have a marvelous Holiday!

FYI: Previous Full Moon was August 1, in Aquarius

Gordon Parks at the Schomburg

I love the Schomburg, it always has something going on. Currently, it celebrates one of our most famous photographers and film makers with Gordon Parks: 100 Moments

This event “…celebrates a photographer who transformed the visual story of America with his ever-questioning lens, highlighting—in particular—the significance of Parks’s photographs from the early 1940s. 100 Moments focuses on Parks’s photographic practice of documenting African Americans in Harlem and Washington, D.C., during a pivotal time in U.S. history. These photographs were taken when both cities were going through significant changes—arising from post-WW II urban migration, the expansion of the black press, concern for children’s education, and entrenched segregation and economic discrimination. “

“Gordon Parks: 100 Moments” until December 1, 2012

Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, 515 Malcolm X Boulevard, NY, NY

FYI:  The Schomburg Library was the vision of Arturo Alfonso Schomburg. Of African/ Puerto Rican descent, he recognized the need to consolidate the culture, history and art of people of color. His collection was absorbed into the New York Public Library system after his death in 1938. It became a part of the “Division of Negro History” at the 135th Street Branch.

Weekend Moon Combo: Sag and Cap – Cool!

Time to perk up! Early Friday morning, August 24th, the Moon will bounce into optimistic, jovial Fire sign Sagittarius for a 2 day visit. Take a risk, spread a little cheer or have a deep and philosophical conversation about something (an often forgotten Sag trait).

Early on Sunday morning, the Moon slips into the “all about business” Earth sign of Capricorn. Ruled by serious Saturn, the 10th sign of the Zodiac has a duty, responsibility and authoritarian focus. Take charge of something.

Have an excellent weekend!

Planet Moves: Mars in Scorpio = HOT

Mars: Warrior planet, ruler of Scorpio (and Aries), high energy spark plug of the universe will be transiting sizzling, sensual, seductive Scorpio for 6 weeks beginning Thursday August 23, 2012. Heat squared!

Well, just an FYI – The red planet is very comfortable in the 8th sign of the Zodiac and may just unleash any passions that have been kept under wraps until now. Focus becomes laser-like, the need to WIN becomes fierce (do not play Go Fish or checkers with children), the object of your affections will know that they are the object of your affections and “temperament” will be spelled with a capital “T”. Hmmmm

Of course, the intensity is dependent upon where Mars falls in the birth chart and whether Scorpio is the Birth and / or Rising sign, however, intense Martian energy will surround us all. Keep breathing, stop and pause before totally succumbing to a tantrum or hissy fit. Power and passion can surely be used in beneficial, joyous ways.

Mars in Scorpio : August 23, 2012  – October 7, 2012
