August Wilson Plays on Webcast!

Mr. Wilson is one of my favorite playwrights. He wrote plays for every decade of the 20^th century that would chronicle some part of the black experience in America. Through the use of his great ear for dialogue, Wilson was able to give us some insight into the daily life, both struggles and triumphs, of an assortment of universal characters that his audience could easily recognize. In 2005, August Wilson completed a ten-play cycle that is now being recorded to be enjoyed by future generations.

Tickets are sold out for just about all the live performances at the tiny Greene Space Theatre in NYC, however, the plays can be viewed online via webcast. I thoroughly enjoyed “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” a few days ago. True, the actors sit in seats in front of microphones, but they were so good and August Wilson’s stories are so compelling, that the imagination kicks in and provides the scenery and action. (For those of you not old enough to remember, we did this during radio programs all the time back in the day:)

“The Piano Lesson” is next on Monday 9/9/13 at 7PM EDT. The Greene Space site has a calendar of events, actor lists, etc.

A Weekend of Charm – Libra Moon!

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, the Moon graces relationship focused Air sign Libra. So don’t be surprised if the soundtrack that runs thru your head occasionally includes, “can’t we all just get along?”. Accomplishment Central – New Moon in Virgo!

On Thursday September 5, 2013, both the New Moon and the Sun are in efficient Earthy Virgo. We experience a double dose of the responsible, practical, detail oriented 6^th sign of the Zodiac. Like all “New” Lunar phases, the next 2 weeks are a great time for initiating, starting, creating, etc. Use it to organize and de-clutter both mind and surroundings.

Take advantage of Virgo’s natural “I’ll handle it” approach to take a look at health and nutrition. Are there things to be improved – diet, exercise? Don’t spend too much time being critical of yourself. Take care of needed changes now.

Cancer & Leo Moon Weekend- Comfort and Joy!

Call home – Friday Morning, 8/30/13, the Moon moves into its own sign again of Cancer. Its a Water sign and we’re drawn to hearth and home or anywhere we are hanging our hat this weekend. The Moon makes us sensitive and emotional, but don’t rule out the often soothing merits of a good meal. Downplay any moodiness and let Cancer’s kind, nurturing way of being show up.

Weekend Moon: Aries & Taurus – Action, Romance, Finances

An extra oomph, an extra buzz are just some of what we will experience as a result of the Aries Moon transit beginning on Friday morning 8/23/13. Aries, the first Fire sign of the Zodiac, ruled by planet Mars, can make us confrontational and hurried, so watch the combustion. Strive for the hammer in the velvet glove approach. Personally, I think super things can happen with all the high energy as long as feet stay on the ground. Keep cockiness to a minimum whenever possible. (At least try.)

Atmosphere calms as the Moon moves into practical Taurus early Sunday morning. Our thoughts turn to money – again. Sun into Earthy, Responsible Virgo

Earth sign Virgo gets a chance at the Sun on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Whether it is your birth sign or not, we will feel the effects of this practical, hardworking, Mercury ruled 6^th sign of the Zodiac until 9/22/13. We will all be a little more grounded and efficient.

Virgo, sign of health, hard work and service also lets us know that it really is all about the details, details, details. If you want to work better/ want better work, put together the little building blocks needed to create something substantial, step by step. We all deserve achievement so why not go after it now (whatever “it” is). Also, implement a good health/exercise regimen. Feeling better helps you work better.

However, being wrapped up in details, or what some may call the “sweating the small stuff”, can also lead to being over critical and picky, not “seeing the forest for the trees” and/or that saying about “paralysis analysis”, etc. Friends, family and co workers eventually resent correction, the pointing out of faults, no matter how “helpful”, how good the intention. Since planet ruler Mercury, the communication maven, transits Virgo, 8/22/13 – 9/9/13, we may talk more, snap more, be “clever”. Giving assistance doesn’t have to mean getting on everyone’s nerves. ,

Full Moon in Revolutionary Aquarius – Free Spirit!

Independent, unconventional Aquarius gives us a Full Moon on Tuesday August 20, 2013 with possibilities of spontaneous change, community activism, group fun with a purpose and just contribution in general. And since it is the second Full orb in Aquarius in the last 30 days, previously Full in the 11th sign of the Zodiac on July 22, 2013, this Moon is called “Blue”. (It only occurs every 2 or 3 years.)

Uranus, this Air sign’s planet ruler, hates constrictions and thrives on the unusual, which can be exciting but precarious. Thinking before you act works. You can still volunteer, organize, make a difference, do the “No Justice, No Peace” chant without falling off the edge.
